College sports is going through a tumultuous transition these days. Between the accelerated pace of “power” conference consolidation and the ongoing questions around NIL and student-athlete financial consideration, there has likely never been so many questions facing this lucrative tier of the U.S. sports ecosystem.

And now, given the recent ruling by the Supreme Court which reverses affirmative action in the context of the college application process, we will likely have a brighter light pointed at the balance of equity between the composition of college campuses as a whole versus the sports teams on these same campuses.

Kevin Blackstone’s Op-Ed in the WashPo made me wonder how close the odds of making it to the NFL will be to getting a college degree for non-white, non-athlete college goers?
